this is just so wonderful! thank you.
i have collected many cover images from this magazine and others from this period (and feature them on my blog too) and i think they are amazing
Thank you for your comments. Maybe you should also check the design of a Portuguese magazine from the 1920s - ABC. Some of the covers were already reproduced in this blog, although none relates directly to Japonisme. You may also be interested in checking a 19th century portrait, which is a good example of Japonisme. It was exhibited in Japan once, although it is not widely known abroad: http://blogdaruanove.blogs.sapo.pt/18759.html
i like that image. i hadn't seen it, and wish to post it in my blog and credit you again.
well, i have had no luck finding really japonisme-looking ABC covers, but i love the style of all the covers i have found. the whole style is japonisme-based, i agree, but not specific--you know what i mean....
and suggestions where to look?
also, may i ask? where did you find this one?
(As I mentioned before, please do feel free to reproduce any images you find in my blog.) Most images related to autographs, books, magazines and Japanese prints are scanned directly from copies in my library. It so happened with that Blanco y Negro and all ABC. I mentioned ABC covers because I noticed in your blog you also had some interest in design from the 1920s and 30s.
oh, no wonder your images look so good. i have found most of mine on ebay!
so many books i wish i had :^)
well, thank you, and yes, i am very interested in the eras most influenced by the influx of japan
